I live in East London. I currently do freelance consulting (open source and web mainly), programming (Perl, Ruby, Php (ugh), Java, MySql, web) teaching (computing at various levels) in order to finance non-commercial work (and buy groceries…). I try and offer fixed-price work rather than cost-plus work where possible. I also give low rates to many non-profits (that I approve of!) in the London area.
I’m happy to make an initial visit in accessible parts of Greater London. I’ll go further afield if my expenses are covered.

As a guide, non-commercial rates start at £150 per day and commercial rates at £300 per day. There’s some flexibility in this, if the relationship is good. I volunteer as well but only where I choose to do so (that’s the definition of volunteer).
In the main, I do not undertake work based on ‘asp’, C# or any Microsoft toolsets. Two exceptions, of course, is that I do some work with Mono on Linux and have experience with Samba.
I have over thirty years experience at various levels in the IT industry and a recent Open University MSc. I speak fluent French. If you’d like a complete CV, please use the contact form and tell me why you want it.
